What Makes a Good Nanny?

With advancements in technology, communication, transportation, and so many other aspects of life, it’s not at all surprising that people are much busier today than they were, say, fifty years ago. Unfortunately, this also means that they have little time to spend at home, and for families with little children or aging seniors, this can be truly heart-breaking. Thankfully, the trusty nanny is here to save the day.

Has Vested Interest in Children

An efficient nanny is one who has genuine interest vested in your children– this way she can be even more of a second parent to them whenever you’re away. If you hire someone who shows concern for the welfare of your kids, you can be sure that she won’t slack off on her responsibilities anytime soon.

Knows her way around Kids

Love for children shouldn’t be the only consideration when getting a new nanny, though. She should also know how to work with little children so they can feel comfortable around her, and inversely. She should know not only how to play with your kids, but also to guide them and efficiently tell them if they do something wrong.

Knows Parenting Boundaries

Most of all, your nanny should clearly see the boundary between her counsels and your authoritative power as parents. While it’s important that you get someone who shares your parenting beliefs, having someone who respects and accepts your judgment should be efficient enough to entrust your kids to.
